How Does Abdominoplasty Work?

Abdominal contouring is performed using general anesthesia for the patient's comfort. Dr. McNally is trained in a variety of tummy tuck techniques and will recommend a method to best address your personal condition and circumstance. For starters, the incision shape and size are selected based on the amount of excess skin. Some individuals with extensive lax skin may require a full tummy tuck. This abdominoplasty technique places the incision from hip bone to hip bone, just above the pubic section. If you have concerns about minimal skin looseness, a less invasive approach may be appropriate. You can still benefit from skin tightening, but you can generally expect a smaller scar. Regardless of the technique used, all tummy tuck procedures at The Oregon Clinic and Réviance involve the removal of sagging skin and fat removal.

What Can I Expect After a Tummy Tuck?

When abdominoplasty surgery is completed, you will be monitored and released wearing a compression garment to reduce swelling. Walking upright will be slow-going for awhile, so you should take it easy for a couple days. Moving about becomes easier once the abdominal muscles adjust and the incision heals. Most patients can generally resume normal activities somewhere around two weeks. Exercise can resume later, closer to two months or earlier if you are given permission by Dr. McNally. The tummy area will feel sore and tight, but you will look and feel normal again once healed.

How much does a tummy tuck cost?

At the time of your consultation, Dr. Sean McNally will create your unique procedure plan to reach your goals before discussing costs. He will be better able to estimate your costs once the type of tummy tuck is decided, along with which technique will be used, what anesthesia is needed, and more. To ensure you get beautiful results from an experienced plastic surgeon, The Oregon Clinic and Réviance makes it easier to afford your tummy tuck by accepting many payment methods and giving you information on low-interest medical financing.

What type of tummy tuck should I get?

At The Oregon Clinic and Réviance, you will probably get one of the three most common techniques for tummy tucks: full, extended, or mini. During your initial consultation, Dr. Sean McNally will listen to your needs and goals before examining your stomach. Then, he can help you decide which tummy tuck will produce your best results. A full tummy tuck is good if you would like to fix loose skin in both the lower and upper stomach, whereas a mini abdominoplasty is good for concerns below your belly button, like a "pooch." The extended technique can improve the stomach, plus the upper thighs and hips.

Can I get a tummy tuck with another surgery?

Many patients combine a second aesthetic surgery with a tummy tuck to see more dramatic results. At your consultation with Dr. Sean McNally, talk to him about all of your desires so a comprehensive treatment plan can be created to match your goals. You may combine a tummy tuck with a butt lift for a lower body lift or several areas for all-over body contouring. If you want to rejuvenate your body after pregnancy or you've lost a significant amount of weight, you may be a good candidate for a mommy makeover.
