Who is a Candidate for Fat Grafting?
Most women who are in good health and at a healthy, stable weight can safely and appropriately undergo a fat grafting procedure. How Does Fat Grafting Work?
In your first consultation, Dr. McNally will discuss with you where you would like to draw fat from and which areas will be the most suitable for surgery. During the surgery, fat will be removed from the donor sites using a tube called a cannula. The harvested fat will be placed in a centrifuge and spun to concentrate the healthy tissue for transplantation. The fat will then be drawn into a syringe and carefully injected throughout the breasts where it may be massaged to help it settle and create a smooth contour. Multiple injections are often needed. What Should I Expect After Treatment?
After a fat grafting procedure, you will enter a healing period. Keep in mind two different areas of the body require healing: the area involving liposuction and the injection sites. The recovery process may take longer if a more extensive body section is addressed. The sites will appear red and slightly swollen, but the outcomes can quickly be noticed. Another perk is that the area where fat is extracted will look slimmer. Fat grafting yields excellent results, but there will be some fat that reabsorbs back into the body. For some, a future transfer may be needed down the road. There is almost no noticeable scarring with this procedure.

How much does fat grafting cost?
The cost of fat grafting will vary greatly based on several factors. In transfers to the breasts or butt, a larger amount of fat is needed, so liposuction is used and a lengthier process is incorporated for fat purification and then inject it accordingly. Smaller treatments, like adding facial volume, require less time and fat. The amount of volume required to achieve your goals will be explained during your consultation with Dr. McNally, along with estimates of cost and payment methods we accept.
Where can I have fat transferred?
Fat can be transferred almost anywhere on your face or body where you want to add volume. Some of the most common areas are the buttocks (typically known as a Brazilian butt lift), breasts, hands, and face. Fat grafting may be combined with breast implants or breast reconstruction to fix imperfections. Age-related volume loss in the face and hands can also be improved with fat grafting, especially in the hollows under the eyes or to add shape to your lips. How long will the results of a fat grafting last?

However, there is usually a certain amount of the transferred fat that doesn't attach to the new area, so Dr. McNally adds a little more fat.
