Top surgery is a common name for gender-affirming surgery related to the chest. This surgery is intended for patients experiencing gender dysphoria from their physique not matching their identity. At The Oregon Clinic, we offer a range of procedures for female to male (FTM) top surgery. Our lead practitioner, Dr. Sean McNally, will work with you during your initial consultation to understand your needs so you can get the treatment you need to live as your true self. Call our plastic surgery practice to learn about your options for gender-affirming care in Portland, OR.

There are a number of possible methods we can employ at The Oregon Clinic for gender-affirming surgery of the chest. Common surgical approaches include breast reduction, modified reduction with free nipple grafting, or a complete mastectomy and liposuction of the breasts and fatty tissue. We can make a number of incisions for your top surgery, including a keyhole incision (along the bottoms of the areolas), periareolar (around the borders of the areolas), or a double incision (around the areolas and underside of the breasts). Your areolas and nipples may be repositioned to create a natural appearance. The procedure used for your top surgery may depend on the size and shape of your breasts and your own aesthetic goals. Dr. McNally will work with you to develop a top surgery treatment customized to your needs.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. McNally and his team. It’s daunting and difficult to find a trans affirming doctor, let alone surgeon. I found him when I found out that an OHSU surgeon for top surgery would take 2 years to be seen. My appointments with Dr. McNally were all so warm, kind, affirming and positive. I felt seen and listened to throughout the entire process. He made sure that I knew all the options for top surgery, and I felt like he genuinely cared about me and wanted to make sure I was pleased with me results. My results are amazing, and he did an incredible job with my incisions. While I know that all bodies scar differently, he was so delicate and precise with the area that everything is healing up beautifully. I would recommend anyone trans/queer community to see him if you’re considering any sort of top surgery, my experience was wonderful.

Dr. McNally changed my whole life for the better! I cannot say enough great things about him. From the very first appointment I had with him I felt completely comfortable and knew I made the right choice having him be my surgeon. He actively listened to any concerns I had and informed me on what to expect pre and post surgery. The procedure with him went smoothly with no complications. He put my mind at ease during my healing process and my incision lines are practically invisible! So thank you Dr. McNally!!! You have no idea the impact you made on my life! Highly highly recommend!
