Can Renuvion® Be Combined With Liposuction For Better Contouring?

Wondering if Renuvion can be combined with other procedures for even better results? Renuvion can be done with liposuction or tummy tuck surgery, making it an excellent complement to procedures that remove fat or excess sagging skin.

At The Oregon Clinic, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Sean McNally helps patients achieve smoother, more sculpted results through custom treatment combinations. If you're curious about Renuvion or want to know more about body contouring in Portland, OR, call today to schedule a consultation.

What is Renuvion?

So, what is Renuvion? Renuvion is a skin-tightening technology that uses radiofrequency energy and helium gas to heat tissue beneath the surface. This causes immediate skin contraction and stimulates long-term collagen production, resulting in firmer and tighter-looking skin over time.

Unlike traditional surgery, which removes excess skin through incisions, Renuvion tightens from within using small entry points. It's minimally invasive and can be used on areas like the abdomen, arms, and thighs.

Can Renuvion be combined with liposuction?

Renuvion can be combined with liposuction fat removal to address both fat and sagging skin in one procedure. Liposuction removes stubborn fat deposits, but it doesn't tighten loose or stretched skin. For patients with mild to moderate laxity, Renuvion fills that gap.

During the procedure, Dr. McNally performs liposuction first to remove unwanted fat. Then, Renuvion is applied through the same small incisions to tighten the skin and create smoother contours. This combination delivers more comprehensive results without the need for extensive surgery or large scars.

What about tummy tuck surgery?

Renuvion can also be combined with a tummy tuck. Tummy tuck surgery is a more comprehensive procedure that removes excess skin and tightens the abdominal muscles, but some patients still experience minor laxity in areas that weren't directly addressed by the procedure.

Renuvion can be applied to the flanks, upper abdomen, or other areas to improve skin tightness and create a smoother transition between treated and untreated zones. This is especially helpful for patients who have lost weight or are planning a mommy makeover to address multiple concerns at once. The combination doesn't add significant recovery time and can improve the overall outcome by creating more uniform, natural-looking contours.

Does body contouring work?

Mommy makeover procedures like Renuvion, liposuction fat removal, and tummy tuck surgery can deliver excellent results, but they're not right for everyone. So, does body contouring work for your situation? It depends on factors like your skin quality, the amount of excess fat or skin, and your overall health.

Renuvion generally works best for patients with mild to moderate sagging skin who are close to their goal weight. It's not a weight loss treatment and won't replace a tummy tuck for patients with significant skin laxity or muscle separation.

During a consultation at The Oregon Clinic in Portland, OR, Dr. McNally will discuss your goals and recommend the ideal approach. Whether that's Renuvion alone, combined with liposuction, or paired with a tummy tuck, the plan will be tailored to your needs.
